I started mid-2020, during covid. It was right after high school and I had nothing to do. I studied accounting, economics, mathematics, and business in high school but none of those made me feel like I would fulfill my purpose. I was generally one of the people that preferred playing soccer then studying because I really felt at home while playing soccer. I had no shame in playing soccer for an entire day.

After high school, I had to start my career, my mother always wanted a normal 9 to 5 but all I wanted was to be in a team of hardworking people who loved their jobs as much as I would. So I started following my interests and leaving the norm behind. I checked technology but it was too huge so I had to narrow it down. As a kid, I was always interested in games, how they work, how it was made, and how I can make my own.

I explored the phrase “CODING”. I found everything I could from the blog posts and tutorials on being a game developer, but that didn’t answer my question. How can I get into tech? I explored more and found out about programming languages, I was as curious as ever.

I downloaded a ton of PDFs and videos on YouTube. I found my answer, web development. Problem is that I didn’t have a laptop or a computer. I had to find a way to learn without a laptop and computer. That’s when I ran into an app called Grasshopper. It was an app developed by Google to help people learn JavaScript and how to use it, but it taught me the logic and not the web development side of things. I joined FreeCodeCamp and The Oden Project hoping to learn further, I did but something didn’t feel right to me.

So I had to make my own way to the top, I learned HTML and CSS using nothing but a pen, paper, and PDFs. I studied each day and night, it was fun. After a month, one of my family members helped me and bought a laptop for me after a few months. I was so excited, I carried on learning and improving my skills. Now I am a freelance web developer with no clients, but the moto in web development is that a different error means improvement, so me talking to you, means I am fixing an error I should have at the beginning of my career.

How I Started My Tech Career

The JAMstack is one of the upcoming stacks I feel that most people are not talking about, I have taken a look at other stacks, such as the LAMP stack, 

What most stacks have in common are the abbreviations in their names.

J for JavaScript - The stack is primarily used with JavaScript and frameworks that go along with it (NextJS, NuxtJS, Gatsby, Angular, React, Vue, and many more javascript frameworks)

A for API - An API is an application programming interface, which means it is a tool that can be used by programmers to connect two or more tech entities together, an entity that can be used for an API is a CMS (Content Management System), such as 

M for Markup - This is the markup of an HTML or a JSX component, we use this to formulate the content in a web app for ease of use and better UI/UX experience.

I learned this stack by trying to use simple tools such as Sanity io, I needed a way to keep my content in one place and how to manage everything with the least amount of code.

It started by using NextJS with MongoDB, then ReactJS with NodeJS and Firebase, and now it’s Sanity with NextJS. I have made 2 blog websites and an e-commerce website.
